During the TED Talk by Jia Jang, he addresses the fear of rejection. Jia Jang begings with analyzing his childhood, focusing on rejection and his experiences with it. He told a story about how he did not feel accepted in school when he was 6 and by 14 he wanted to make a difference but something was holding him back and that was, rejection. Jia Jang acknowledged his rejections throughout his life and how the fear of more held him back. He explained how he found a website suggesting how to over come this. He discovered that if he got rejected every day for a certain amount of days, he would be desensitized of it and not be afraid of it anymore. Jia Jang explained that he was going to do this and goes into further detail of the thinng she did to get “no” as an answer. He notes that at first, he felt embarassed and would run away but over time he became accustomed to it and was not bothered by it. Jia Jang claims we need rejection in order to succeed and it helps people in the long run. He also learned that if he asked questions it would help to not be rejected. Jia Jang advised that people get used to the idea of rejection because it is going to happen but one cannot be discouraged by it, they have to keep trying.

For my podcast, I think I am going to use Audacity. Audacity seems like an easy, efficient way to just record my voice. After watching the video for beginners, audacity seems very simple and easy to use . In the video it also said it was a good tool to have because teachers often use this or something similar to it. I am not sure how to upload it or share when I am finished, so I will just have to figure that out.
After reading P-6 “other punctuation” I learned more efficient ways to get my point across. I learned to emphasize words or lists I can use a dash. I can use a dash in my writing while explaining how I used to get bad grades because I did not try hard and I was young. For example, I could say “I never got amazing grades in English–possibly because I was a young ten year old who did not want to try very hard” or something that is material not directly related. It was a review while learning to put brackets around words I insert into a quotation. I can use this tool while using quotations from Dweck in my writing. If a quotation is too long to quote the whole thing I can use ellipses to show there are more words in between what is being said. If this happens with a source in my writing I can use the three dots and still be able to get my point across without it being too long.
The Editor described the setting to be a town in Maryland, consisting of stores, buildings and liquor stores, like any other town. The Editor started with Robin explaining the crime he committed, he stole $20,000 worth of office supplies, which he then tried to sell. The plot continues by Robin continuing his life from jail and getting into fights. After being in prison for a while, the plot of the podcast changed. Robin began to read books and he loved reading them. He began to find errors within some books such as the encyclopedia. He wrote letters addressing the problem. He began working with the producers, specifically Mark Stevens and helping them correct mistakes. This is a part of Robin’s growth as a character. Then Robin got transferred to a different jail/facility where he could not bring his library collection of books. This created a conflict that had to be resolved. Mark was able to resolve the problem and get Robin his books back. After being released from prison, Robin was eager to meet Mark. He was able to meet him and thank him. Robin growth as a character is shown at the end when his house is broken into and robbed because he then knew how it felt to have things taken from you, which he used to do to people. He realized it was wrong and unfair. The editor did a good job on showing the character growth, plot, and conflict and resolution. The editor was engaging and interesting, making readers want to keep listening/reading.
